Pregnancy and Diabetes

Women with diabetes who are pregnant or planning a pregnancy should contact their local Diabetes Antenatal or Pre-conception Clinic as soon as possible. Early specialist input supports safe pregnancy planning and ongoing care, including medication review, folic acid advice, and contraception guidance where appropriate.

Patients do not require a GP referral; however, they should inform their GP or community midwife after making contact.
